The online Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP) program at App State

App State's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares you to become a leader in advanced clinical practice with a special focus on serving rural populations across North Carolina and beyond.

This program blends the flexibility of online coursework with immersive, hands-on experiences once a semester at App State Hickory, where you will utilize state-of-the-art simulation labs to refine your skills.

The program is designed for BSN-prepared Registered Nurses with at least one year of experience.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nurse practitioner jobs are projected to grow by 45% from 2023 to 2033, with nearly 30,000 new positions needed annually.

Graduates will be eligible to sit for national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). FNP’s provide high-quality care in a variety of settings including but not limited to:

You will have in-person instruction one week per semester at App State Hickory, where you will spend time in our state-of-the-art simulation labs.
